Best resource out there!

This is an outstanding test prep book for the 3rd grade PARCC. We used it primarily as a method to introduce our child to the way this test will ask her questions, and help her learn strategies on how to answer those questions. Our child tends to speed read through the questions and then answers the question wrong as a result. Taking the practice tests helped her learn she needed to slow down.

Also, in our state the PARCC results won't come out until November, so this also helped us zero in on her math weaknesses which we can address during the summer to help her transition easier into 4th grade math in September.

The first 2 tests are 10 question review tests. The next 8 are 20 question practice tests that will be more like the PARCC. Answers and scoring are in the back.

Great intro to Proxmox

Great overview of many of the technologies that make up Proxmox. Having used Proxmox for nearly 5 years now, there wasn't too much new in here for me, but it had everything in it that someone would need to pick it up and get moving.

I do wish it would go a bit more in-depth on things like OVS, but since those aren't Proxmox products and are merely integrated, I can see why they dont.

A must have for serious cactus collectors with one flaw

I moved to Arizona a few years ago and growing cacti and succulents is just about the most natural thing to do here. I got this book and it has been a great resource for me in terms of knowledge about cacti and of course the detailed descriptions of all the species. I especially like the deconvolution of the different latin names which in many other books are quite a jumble and sometimes can be very confusing when looking something up or trying to compare between books. However, I do have to say that this book has one major flaw that stops it from being 5 stars: not all descriptions come with a photograph, so this book is great when you know the name of the cactus you are looking up, but if you know generally what you have but not the specifics, you can easily get stuck as the descriptions are not always enough to make the distinction.

An excellent, up to date book on Cactus. A worthy addition to the reference library of any serious cactus collector. Not a book for someone just looking for "growing instructions" but more geared to the serious botanist.

Jason Pipho, or Krisjian to his friends is the rarest of teachers. His energetic abilities are considered astounding by many but as he is quick to point out, “Everyone has these abilities. They simply forgot because they are thinking. Miracles are our birthright, not miracles.”

Path to Eden and my true self

This is my third time reading Jason Pipho's Unfixyou and I am realizing how deep and true Jason's messages are every time I read it.

As he put it, `How deep down the rabbit hole are you willing to go?'

To improve myself, increase my capacity in business and life, or find my true self, etc., I have studied from Mr. Robbins, Landmark, the Secret, Buddhism, ThetaHealing�, etc., etc., and Jason's writing is different from others. Although, initially it appeared to be similar to some others, it's in a different dimension/paradigm.

Many other programs deal with a level of thinking/belief/conviction and they teach different techniques to delete or change the so called `limiting' beliefs at a conscious or subconscious level to make things better. And, indeed, they did work for me to `improve' my thinking, hence results. I'm thankful to all of them. However, after reading this book, I know that they are dealing in the world of thinking - the world after Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge (= thinking).

This book shows the reader a way to go back to the world before the Tree of Knowledge, Eden. He explains how we have been `breaking' the perfection we already are, and how `fixing' ourselves actually break us even more.

Jason introduces simple exercises that individuals can do to be one's true self. He also writes specific instructions on meditation to quiet the mind/thinking.

After practicing those exercises, many things about me are changing and people are noticing the changes. In Jason's words, "All changes take place in the internal world and then the external world will change as if by magic." This book shows a way to meet the true, perfect self that, "was always there" and takes us back to Eden where we belong.

Nonetheless, newcomers as well as seasoned fans of Ch�dr�n's writing will glean much from this training program for becoming a "warrior bodhisattva"--a term which, simply put, means one who aspires to act from an awakened heart.

Gradually, Ch�dr�n guides readers beyond the tunnel vision of the self, expanding outward to include compassion for all of humanity. In the 12th teaching, "The Root of Suffering," Ch�dr�n writes: "What keeps us unhappy and stuck in a limited view of reality is our tendency to seek pleasure and avoid pain, to seek security and avoid groundlessness, to seek comfort and avoid discomfort." In the 77th teaching, "Cool Loneliness," she suggests that the next time readers wake up in the morning feeling the "heartache of alienation" they try to "relax and touch the limitless space of the human heart." By the 101st teaching, Ch�dr�n speaks to "taking refuge in the Sangha," meaning becoming warriors who are not only committed to taking off their own armors of self-pity, but are also committed to gently helping others do the same. About the Author
Pema Ch�dr�n is an American Buddhist nun in the lineage of Ch�gyam Trungpa. She is resident teacher at Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia, the first Tibetan monastery in North America established for Westerners. She is the author of many books and audiobooks, including the best-selling When Things Fall Apart and Don't Bite the Hook.

A Valuable book about what challenges are bound to show up in our lives + a positive take on our strength to overcome them

This book covers the subject of the inevitable uncertainty very nicely.
We normally want to know that things are going well and there is no crisis looming and life is dependable and secure.
Surprise... Nothing about life is stable. That's an ever changing scene and change is bound sometimes to bring challenges with it.

Should we be paranoid because of that? - No... Only know that for almost any challenge in your life, you can also find in you the strength, creativity and resources to manage the situation, and if things really break like a breakup from your significant other, or financial downturn, or health issues or even death of a close person, we should trust that there is a light at the other end of the tunnel (and that it's not an oncoming train).

Ask anyone who is 30, 40, 50 if their life was easy-sailing and not a single person will say Yes.
Yet they are all there, learned from their experiences and are moving along.

Should things turn for the worse in a big way? - That may become the opening for you to go 'beyond' - beyond the egoic mind and pain-body and into a realm of living and accepting the moment as it is. See The Power of Now for example, by Eckhard Tolle, and many of his videos on YouTube.

Gentle. Practical. Non-Dogmatic. Relevant.

This is my first time writing a review because this book fundamentally changed my life and I hope others can experience the same.

Whether a beginning buddhist, a lifelong learner, or just a person looking to find some peace in life this book can truly refresh and rejuvenate the spirit. It has practical approaches to living peacefully and gently accepting yourself and the world. It reminds us of our shared humanity and interconnectivity.

It is not religious or dogmatic but rather an inspiring, practical workbook written in one page to one and a half page lessons.
I read one each day with my coffee before starting the day. Please share this with yourself and others.

Life-Changing Book

This book changed my life. A friend sent it in the mail to me -- out of the blue-- in 2007. It is both an excellent primer on handling the uncertainties of change and for Buddhism. The subjective, transient nature of our own thoughts and perspectives are exposed with wisdom and kindness. A new world can open from reading this book where we are more at home in the present moment, more at peace with ourselves, and more at peace with the world.

There are 108 very short, topical chapters. They can be read in any order. There are so many interesting topics that you may go through the Table of Contents and read at your leisure. The book to me was like a gentle invitation into a whole new world which was less predictable, deeper, richer, more open, and less confining.

Pema Chodron, the author, writes in a candid, clear manner. The book does not have many technical or Buddhist terms. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for more than "been there, done that" in their lives.
